The Music Academies Fall 2015 Schedule
Level 1A Class
Level 2A Class (This is a 2nd year class for those who started the class last year)
TU 11:30am-Noon (beginning 9/8/15)
Children will experience the joy of music.
Each week's class emphasizes character development by
way of rhythm and movement exercises, recognition of
notes and note values, memory skill building, counting
exercises, music and introduction to music staff and
piano keyboard; development of listening skills - high
and low, loud and soft; and hand-eye coordination
through experience with rhythm instruments and
keyboard. Musical story time focuses on composers,
This class is for those who have completed one full year of piano lessons and ready to begin the next level of instruction. Class will continue to work with note reading, rhythm patterns and music theory and music history.
Classical Guitar Classes
Level 1A ages
5-8 TH 12:30-1
pm (beginning 9/10/15 )
Each week's class will introduce new notes or
chords. Rhythm and recognition of notes and note
values. Memory skill building, counting exercises,
music and introduction to music staff and guitar
finger board and chords. Development of listening
skills - high and low, loud and soft. Hand-eye
coordination through experience with guitar and rhythm
instruments. Musical theory time focusing on
composers, music terminology. You will need an
acoustic guitar of the right size for your child for
this class. We have them available for
purchase at $60 additional cost.
Orchestral Strings Classes
ages 5 to
MO 11:30am - 12 noon (beginning 9/14/14)
Children will experience the joy of learning to play the violin through the use of musical adventures and song. Each weekly class will introduce new techniques through the use of violins and rhythm instruments. Memory skills, counting exercises, note reading skills and introduction to the musical staff will all be taught, helping to develop listening skills, hand-eye coordination.
ages 12+ TH 1:30 2:30pm (beginning 9/10/15)
This class is for students who are interested in performing more challenging pieces of music in a group setting and who have played their instrument for two or more years, strings, woodwinds & brass. Opportunity for performances three times during the school year and once as a side by side with the Niles Area Community Orchestra. Music provided.
ages 5+ FR 10:30-11:15 am (beginning 9/11/15)
Children will experience the fun and joy of singing. Our musical adventure will begin with fun vocal warm-ups, beginning music theory and history of the pieces we will be working on. Performance at the end of the semester.
General Music Classes
Try It Before you Buy It
This class is for students and parents who are not sure what instrument they would like to learn to play. Students are taught to play basic Piano, violin, guitar, ukulele, rhythm instruments and recorder.
Students will learn about the history of composers, their lives and their music. Experience live performances from local artists and orchestra concerts. Students will learn and gain knowledge, skills and artistic sensitivity in performing music and listening to music.
